In a dazzling display of elegance and empowerment, the National Latina Business Women Association Inland Empire Institute (NLBWA-IE) gathered entrepreneurs, community leaders, and supporters to honor the achievements of Latina business owners at the 2023 Latina Entrepreneur in Leadership Awards (LEILA™) Gala. Held at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Ontario Airport, this annual celebration of Latina excellence was a testament to resilience, strength, and the transformative power of entrepreneurship in Inland Southern California.
The NLBWA-IE, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to uplifting Latina entrepreneurs through education, development, and community support, organized the LEILA Awards to spotlight the remarkable accomplishments of Latina business leaders in the Inland Empire. This year’s gala, themed around the qualities of pure gold—perseverance, adaptability, and an indomitable spirit—served as a platform to recognize women who embody these traits and have made significant contributions to their fields.
The festivities began with a VIP reception, where dignitaries, sponsors, and honorees enjoyed a special welcome with wine, cheese, and live jazz by Plena Vista Music Entertainment. Attendees, dressed in black-tie attire with a hint of shimmer, mingled in an ambiance filled with warmth and excitement as they prepared to celebrate the evening’s honorees. NLBWA-IE Executive Director Maria Solano welcomed guests, setting the stage for an inspiring evening dedicated to honoring Latina resilience and success.
As the evening progressed, guests gathered in the auction room to bid on an impressive array of items donated by local businesses, including spa packages, sports memorabilia, and fine jewelry. The silent auction offered ample networking opportunities, allowing attendees to meet dignitaries, connect with fellow entrepreneurs, and enjoy the signature LEILAtini cocktail. The evening’s vibrant energy and support underscored the importance of community in empowering Latina entrepreneurs to reach new heights.
The grand ballroom doors opened to an unforgettable evening where Latina-owned businesses took center stage. NLBWA-IE recognized the vital role of these enterprises in driving economic growth and social impact in the region. Award recipients included outstanding leaders nominated for prestigious honors such as the Latina Executive of the Year Award, Latina-Owned Emerging Business of the Year Award, and Latina-Owned Business of the Year Award. These women, through their innovation, leadership, and commitment, exemplify the transformative impact of Latina entrepreneurship.
During the dinner program, the audience learned about the latest partnership between NLBWA-IE and the University of California, Riverside (UCR) TACIES, which conducted a research study to address the unique challenges Latina business owners face. This initiative, launched to provide consulting and educational resources for Latina entrepreneurs affected by COVID-19, identifies key traits and needs in the community, ensuring organizations like NLBWA-IE can continue to support these women in achieving their business goals.
The 2023 LEILA Awards was more than an event; it was a movement—an uplifting reminder of the boundless potential within the Latina business community. As NLBWA-IE looks toward future events like the 2024 LEILA Awards and Latina BIZCON™, it reaffirms its commitment to supporting Latina entrepreneurs with opportunities for growth, recognition, and connection.
